The interview with Leopold was the first interview without us meeting or knowing each other beforehand. We got introduced through a Whats App group and my gut told me that the interview with him would be an okay idea, but it turned out to be amazing! We have had wonderful conversations about life with all of its struggles and beautiful experiences. Leo is always fully present, truly connecting with the people around him and gives unconditionally. Curious about his view on self-care?! Continue to read!
Was there a specific moment in your life when you felt self-care is very important?
“Yes! I had a period of a lot of partying. One afternoon I woke up at 5 PM, with my head broken, no shirt on and having no clue where I was and what I did during the last couple of hours. I looked for my friends and while trying to pay for drinks, I found out that I had spent 90 percent of my monthly salary during that night. I did not feel like myself anymore. It was definitely the point where I had to start changing my life, I stopped all the partying and got myself out of that entourage. I started to implement new habits in my life and experienced what works for me and what doesn’t”.
What does taking care of yourself mean to you?
“It means to sleep seven hours each night, eating plant based, practicing meditation on a regular basis and to exercise regularly. Eating plant based is, in my perspective, healthier and gives me more energy. Taking care of myself actually also means to give to other people. I was born with my heart open to give, I am dreaming of becoming a billionaire. Not in money but in other people’s heart.”
“Visualization is also a way to take care of myself. Life is not about your needs and desires. When you want something, you send out to the universe that there is something you currently do not have. The difference with visualization is that with visualization you imagine what it would be like to have all the things that you want in life in order to attract them to your own life. I am very certain you can have anything if you can do you visualization properly.”
What do you do when you feel the need to take care of yourself?
“It feels a bit lame to say, but when I need more care for myself I focus on my breathing. Breathing is the answer to everything. I like to inhale very deeply, imagining that I inhale all the things that I am grateful for. When I breath out, I let go of all the problems that my mind had created. If I do this for five minutes, I feel much better!”
What is your TCOYS tip to other people?
“I have got a few, the first one is to understand your habits. If you feel like you lack something, go in search of where that is coming from and what you need to do in order to fill that gap. Like the thing I did when I was into a lot of partying, I was running away from a lot of things. The second one is to meditate, even if you think it is not your thing, just try it and experience what it has to offer. All types of exercise is also a form of meditation, you need to breath properly and that brings you into the present moment, like meditation. And last but not least, accept your lows because we cannot enjoy the highs without the lows.”
